About this audiobook

Death. Theft. Marriage. It’s an average day in the Other Realm.

Someone keeps bludgeoning to death people in the Other realm. A couple of the murders were virtually in our back garden, so Emory has asked me to try and find the culprit. I’d feel better if I didn’t have Shirdal along with me, cracking jokes and on the verge of a deadly killing spree of his own. Plus there’s the small matter of the missing multi-million-pound Eye of Ebrel that I still need to locate.

Having survived the challenges, you’d think I’d be welcomed by the dragons with open arms – but no, the Court is still full of intrigue and hostility. A few weeks ago we flew to Lucy’s rescue and made some questionable decisions and now it’s time for the consequences. The Elders are visiting Emory’s court and they’re here to decide his fate – and by extension mine.

At this rate, I’m not sure we’ll survive long enough to get our big white wedding. Damn it, I was really looking forward to the cake.

Burn through this fun, fast-paced, laugh-out-loud mix of urban fantasy and mystery

The title Betrayal of the Court leaves no doubt about what the story is about but it wouldn’t be Jinx if there weren’t surprises, murders to investigate and the Eye of Ebrel to find. Not to mention, as a future bride, a Hen do is required. (For Americans it’s a bachelorette party). I am sure you will be rooting for Jinx and Emory just as I did, no matter what happens, their love is strong enough to see them through. Alyse Gibbs is a wonderful narrator giving each character a voice!

What a journey you go on reading this book! Jinx has her plate full solving murders, finding a stolen gem, trying to save Emorys fate all whilst planning a wedding! Gato also has his hands full with a very cute addition! I loved every second of this book, it had humour, suspense, adventure and it gets you right in the feels. Incredible writing!

I read the ebook a few years ago and never reviewed it. But this time around, I listened to the audiobook with my two boys. The narrator Alyse does a fantastic job bringing the characters to life, as she has in all the previous books as well. My 11yo says: "I thought it was good. It was fun to listen to and the narrator does a very good of changing their voice." My 13yo says: "I like the writing style."
