Rossamund has always dreamed of a career in the Navy, fighting tentacled monsters and rescuing damsels from hook-handed pirates. But fate has chosen him for a different path. David (D. M.) Cornish is a fantasy author and illustrator from Adelaide, South Australia. David studied illustration at the University of South Australia, where in 1993 he began to compile a series of notebooks. Over the next ten years he filled twenty-three journals with his pictures, definitions, ideas and histories of his world, the Half-Continent. He is currently working on the third instalment of the Monster Blood Tattoo Trilogy.

Humphrey Bower is a gifted and versatile actor. Since obtaining a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature at Oxford University, he has worked extensively in theatre, television and audiobook narration. Humphrey won the prestigious Audie Award (US) for his performance of The Family Frying Pan by Bryce Courtenay, and was shortlisted for an Audie Award for his performances of Gould's Book of Fish by Richard Flanagan and Brother Fish by Bryce Courtenay. Humphrey's sensitive and intelligent readings are highly regarded and he is well-known for his capacity to perform a variety of accents.
