Sadie Grant is no stranger to battles and struggles, having been born with a disfiguring disability. Her childhood is wrought with alienation, a severe hatred for herself and a crushing loneliness. A small act of kindness causes her to pivot, and, for the first time in her young life, Sadie witnesses the joy of the one thing she’s only ever dreamed of — having a friend.
Her blissful bubble is then broken when, in 1914, the government summons all able-bodied boys and men to fight in a battle that will change the course of history — and her life.
‘Broken’ is a tale of the struggles of finding belonging a world that is hostile, wrought with unfathomable grief, and unkind to those who have no place within it.
Born with Cerebral Palsy, Erica grew up in New South Wales Australia. For as long as she can remember, she has always been reading and writing. Falling into a world of fiction was an escape from the difficulties of her reality. The first story she wrote was around 1995, and it was about a poodle. She was six years old. Now in her thirties, she has a Diploma in Professional Novel Writing, and has published several free novels on Inkitt, under the username LittleQuill.
As fictional worlds and characters helped her through her hard and lonely times, she hopes that the ones she creates can do the same for others.
When Erica is not tapping away on her keyboard and Microsoft Word, she enjoys video games, and being surrounded by the things she loves most. Her budgies, two cats, her husband, and of course, her much adored loved books.
