Sarah Burton was the course director of Cambridge University’s MSt in Creative Writing. She has written for BBC History Magazine and reviews for the Times, Spectator, Guardian and Independent. The Strange Adventures of H is Sarah's debut novel for adults.
Jem Poster is the author of two historical novels, Courting Shadows (Sceptre, 2002; translated into German, Polish and Spanish) and Rifling Paradise (Sceptre, 2006; translated into German). He is co-author, with Sarah Burton, of Eliza Mace (Duckworth, 2024), the first in a series of historical detective mysteries; the second book in the series will be published by Duckworth in 2025. He is also co-author, with Sarah Burton, of a handbook for fiction-writers, The Book You Need to Read to Write the Book You Want to Write (Cambridge University Press, 2022) which contains a substantial section on approaches to historical research in the context of fiction-writing.
Karen Cass studied French and Spanish at Cambridge University before training to be an actor at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Following many stage and TV appearances earlier in her career she currently specialises in voice acting and has recorded numerous audiobook titles in all genres for all age-groups as well as film and museum voiceovers including Wimbledon’s social media tribute to Roger Federer on his retirement. Karen is also an accomplished tennis player, representing GB and still plays competitively both home and abroad.
