Thirty years after the Ephialtes incident a new dawn of peaceful prosperity is breaking. A reformed Asian Bloc is pursuing a meaningful détente with the USAN, and the spectre of war has long since receded.
When a voice from the past is heard across the solar system contemporary assumptions are shaken to the core. The sheen of modern civility is torn asunder as an ageless foe is revealed to be a threat not just to the USAN and Mars, but to the entirety of human civilisation.
An enemy of unprecedented magnitude is coming, and humanity must decide how to confront it. If there is to be even the slimmest hope of prevailing some ugly truths will have to be dragged back into the light. There can be no rules in a fight for survival.

Gavin E Parker is from the Isle of Thanet in southern England, where he has lived and worked his whole life. He has dabbled in music, film and video in the past and is currently writing novels, short stories, and blogs.
Inspired by the rapidly expanding possibilities open to publishers in the twenty-first century, in 2014 Gavin set about writing his debut novel, Ephialtes. Ephialtes is the first of a trilogy of books chronicling the war between Earth and its former colony on Mars. A series of shorter pieces - the Ephialtes codices - set in the same fictional universe complement the main trilogy.
Having worked in healthcare, local government and education he has a mildly jaundiced view of the human condition, but still maintains good humour about it. Things could be worse, right?
