About this audiobook

From USA Today bestselling author Claudia Burgoa comes a small-town, forced-proximity romance with a grumpy, single dad, a woman on the run, and a stalker who won’t let her go until he’s destroyed everything she loves—or she fights back.

After witnessing a crime, I ran.

For three years, I’ve hidden from Birchwood Springs.

Three years since I abandoned my home, my plans, and the life I planned to build.

I told myself it was the only way to stay safe.

But when my grandmother falls ill, I have no choice but to come back—even if it means confronting the past I tried to escape.

The moment I step onto my land, I feel it. The unease creeping in. The prickle at the back of my neck.

Someone’s been here. Watching. Waiting.

They know I’m back.

And they want me to know it, too.

I should leave. Pack up. Disappear—again.

Then I see him.

Hopper Timberbridge, my high school crush.

Now, he’s gruff, guarded, and fiercely protective of the life he’s built with his daughter. He doesn’t pry, doesn’t push—just takes everything in with knowing eyes that see too much. And when the threats escalate, he offers me a place to stay, a refuge I know better than to trust.

Because whatever’s lurking in the dark?

It isn’t just watching anymore. It’s coming for me.

This was such a wonderful story. It was a quick read jam packed with adventure, chaos, unknown threats, dysfunctional family, small town gossip, toddler sweetness, hard truths, difficult pasts, passion, hope & love. I absolutely adore Maddie, she is the sweetest little girl, you can’t help but want to snuggle her. Nysa is a strong independent woman, who has been gone for years after something traumatic happened, she’s back in town, and so is the threat.

This story pulled me in from the start. Nysa ran for her life when she witnessed something shouldn't have. She only returned because of her grandmother and became a target. In came Hopper, and sparks flew. With the help of family and friends, Nysa was protected from the danger because of the past. I felt that both Nysa and Hopper were very strong, independent people, and I loved their journey. I highly recommend it. The narration of Connor Crais and Stephanie Nemeth-Parker were wonderful.

I am falling so hard for these intriguing and swoony Timberbridge brothers! I loved the emotion and intensity, the building drama and suspense, along with the growing passion between Nysa, Hopper. Nysa left town years ago after seeing something that put her life at risk. When her grandmother is sick, Nysa races home to help her. Hopper is a single dad of an adorable little girl, Maddie. The narration by Stephanie Nemeth Parker and Connor Crais was superb! I loved every moment!
