When Hugh and Kate’s newborn son is taken to the church to be baptized, they are astounded to find that the locked font is completely dry. The possibility of a leak is quickly ruled out, and just as Hugh is beginning to wonder if there may be a sinister explanation for the stolen holy water, Father Robert is found lying motionless by the rood screen in a pool of blood.

Mel Starr is the author of seventeen novels in the medieval mystery series, the Chronicles of Hugh de Singleton, Surgeon. He was born and grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After graduating with an MA degree in history from Western Michigan University, he taught history in Michigan public schools for thirty-nine years. Since retiring, he has focused on his highly successful novels.
Tim Bruce has a warm, friendly, characterful voice and works extensively in voice-over, cartoons, and audiobooks. A regular on the BBC, he is an award-winning actor with over twenty-five years of experience narrating audiobooks for publishers all over the world.
