Petr Beckmann holds up this mirror, giving the background of the times when pi made progress—and also when it did not, because science was being stifled by militarism or religious fanaticism.

Quelques mots sur l'auteur
Petr Beckmann was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1924. He has authored eleven books and more than fifty scientific papers, mostly on probability theory and electromagnetic wave propagation.
Stephen R. Thorne is a professional actor and a member of the Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island. He has played Hamlet, Henry V, and Tom Joad, among many other roles. Stephen has narrated over fifty audiobooks.
