Follow in the footsteps of the famous fairy tale collectors and linguists Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm: Our exhibition house, built in 2015, was voted one of the ten best new museums in the world by the British newspaper “The Guardian”. And the fairytale architecture has already received numerous awards.
The exhibition uses the diversity of modern technology and stages the Grimm fairy tales in an exciting, vivid and interactive way: the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood is waiting for your visit in grandmother's bed and the witch's house from Hansel and Gretel, overflowing with sugar, captivates young and old alike . These motifs naturally come from Grimm's "Children's and Household Tales": The original, personal copies of the Brothers Grimm with their handwritten annotations have been a UNESCO World Document Heritage since 2005 and you can find them in our treasury.
In the exhibition area for the German dictionary, also called the “Grimm”, you can immerse yourself in the dreamlike paper worlds of this monumental work. The curse word funnel builds one of many bridges for you from the Grimm era to today: for every expletive of our time you use, you will receive one from the Grimm era back.
Afterwards, the café-restaurant Falada invites you to linger. From homemade cakes to burgers made with 100% North Hessian beef, you can find everything hungry explorers need on their “hero’s rest”. Be sure to take a tour of the roof terrace and enjoy the fairytale panoramic view.
