Here I am once again to review the next installment of the 'Upgrade the Game' series. First of all: Major props to the developer as this is indeed an improvement on the previous UtG. The fact that purely cosmetic upgrades are separate from gameplay upgrades was something the previous game needed badly. Furthermore, this UtG features a more typical vertical scrolling top-down shooter type gameplay. Once again, this is an improvement as the bomb-dropping system in UtG 2 was a bit clunky. While UtG 3 is superior to its predecessor, there are a couple of flaws in this game, some that have always plagued the series and some entirely new. Like the last game, an issue with the English language can be felt when reading dialogue, instructional text and even menus. Not to mention the seemingly unpolished nature of the game. 30 minutes in and I've already encountered unreachable power-ups, bosses shooting during their introduction and a boss that did not have the time to do anything before it was taken out (reaper). Moreover, some aspects do not seem well thought out. The whole fleet expansion thing sounds like a good idea at first, but once you actually try it there's mostly downsides to it. When you do increase the amount of ships you can use at once your hitbox grows larger, so does your collision box which ends up restricting your ability to dodge attacks a lot. What's more is that it will take longer to upgrade your ships using purple power-ups the more ships you have, causing your firepower to be spread very thin compared to having one ship. So overall UtG 3 is better than UtG 2 but the major gameplay shift causes some issues and the grammar and spelling issues are ever present.

I'm having a good time, just a few negatives: 1. I'm not sure whether typos, bad grammar, and capitalization will be fixed by upgrading stuff. 2. It sometimes feels like a tablet game, I prefer being able to zoom out rather than move part of the screen. 3. Spawned enemies on the side are most of the time unable to hit them with more than one ship, which makes counter play somewhat difficult. 4. When you get all 5 ship slots dodging small missiles feels impossible, cuz fleet size and small field.

Really great game, very fun and the on-the-nose humor is really funny. One small slight, it seems that I start with sound at the max level(not really but it is too good to upgrade :D). Also, more serious issue, the beam ships seems way more powerful that all the others, not certain if that is just me but I'll point it out. Overall really good quality, you should be proud of yourself
