Gramathu Kadavul / Kula deivam valipadu App is an immersive digital platform designed to explore and celebrate the rich tapestry of local village deities worshipped across Tamil Nadu. This app serves as a gateway to understanding the unique spiritual and cultural traditions that define rural Tamil Nadu, bringing to light the lesser-known deities that are central to the lives of many in the region.

The rituals and festivals of village deities known as Grama Deiva Valipadu are still an important part of rural areas.

Village deity temples are still worshiped and festivals are celebrated by the respective villagers even today.

The goddess who protects us is the guardian goddess. The guardian deities are located on the outskirts of the town or in some field.

Kuladheivams are considered as the Ancestral God. Kuladeivam can be a male or a female and these deities are consecrated in a manner to protect and nurture people belonging to a particular clan.

Kulatheivam gives us grace easily. It will also get the benefits of worshiping other deities. It is important to worship the kuladheivam at least once a year at the place where the kuladheivam resides.


People who have migrated to other places still visit their ancestral village/town and pay their respects by offerings/donations /charity /breaking coconuts to Kuladheivam temples.


Without Kula Deivam’s blessing nothing can be done, even our Istha Deivam and guru also sometimes cannot help us. When there is a wedding, Upanayanam, Grahapravesam, or any other joyous family function, visiting the Kuladheivam temple is a must.


Due to various unexplained reasons, one (or) one’s family may forget and may have discontinued worshiping their Kuladheivam. It is also possible that families get confused between their Kuladheivam and Ista Deivam generations together and forget (or) ignore their Kuladheivam.

No matter how busy our lives are, we must visit and worship Kuladheivam at least once a year.
