Voting and Karma:

Instead of likes and hearts, Reddit runs on upvotes or downvotes. Voting on posts and comments increase or decrease the creator’s karma, and helps popular and relevant posts rise to the top, while filtering out low-quality or irrelevant posts.

While karma doesn't directly impact your ability to use Reddit, more karma can increase posts’ visibility and help you get noticed. Some communities require karma to post or comment, which helps maintain content quality and community standards.

edit: as of July 13, I still can't log into the app. I need to log into the browser version of it to use! The app is broken this year. App is very broken right now. clicking on notifications or links off of Google will have the app not load anything. going into the app itself is VERY slow. I tried to clear the cache and reboot, but very little luck. Tried to install and reinstall the app, but it's acting like my account doesn't exist. I have to use the browser version now to even use Reddit.

They constantly introduce terrible features that are half baked at best and offer no way to disable. This app should be a case study in how to poorly design a UI. The terrible "feature" this time is automatically swiping to the next post when in full screen mode. The problem is that gesture is already used to swipe to see the next image in a gallery. It just makes it so confusing when you think there are more images and you just get sent to the next post.

fix the app. I don't know what's keeping it from accessing reddit, I'm guessing you guys were maybe updating something on the site itself and it broke something when it came to the app accessing everything but very little works. no options, no posts loading, the search works but that's about it, and images load up. we'll update the ol rating here when it seems fixed up. kinda sucks all the other apps that did this for free never let this problem persist for long back in the day.
