Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.
• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, stickers, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.
• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 50 people.
• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.
• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.
• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.
• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

I love the app but definitely still misses some nice-to-have functionalities like WA and/or Discord have: pinning of messages, a separate media tab for links, creating polls/events, and as others have mentioned: starring messages. Also, sometimes when sending pictures, some pictures don't load when selecting and I am unable to send them. Additionally: on samung. the picture-in-picture mode during a call doesn't show the correct " media controls". During a call it shows the controls forward/play

I love the privacy, encryption and everything, but I hate the fact that my messages keep stalling even with fast internet. Often I would send a message out to a friend only for it to just... not send. Very annoying. Especially when you're in the middle of a conversation with your partner and have anxiety. Nightmare fuel ngl

Love the simple look of the app and that it doesn't have any extra functions that make it feel more like a social media app instead of a messaging app. Also highly appreciate the option to hide stories. Transferring from my previously used 'messaging' app to this one was very seamless and I don't miss any features. Though I would like to be able to favourite messages so I can easily look them up if needed.
