About this app
This is a client app for the self-hostable Immich Server (which can be found with the app's source repo). You will need to run/manage the server on your own in order to use the app.
Once set up, this app can be used as photo and video backup solution directly from your mobile phone.

I've been moving away from Google and other commercial SaaS apps for years. Many self-hosted apps aren't quite feature-rich or great in terms of user experience, and I've come to accept that as a trade-off. With Immich not only I get virtually unlimited storage, better control and security, but also I think it's even better than Google Photos in so many ways.

40000+ photos, many in raw format, catalogued at nearly perfection, on a Synology NAS with Portainer. Face recognition and in general subjects recognition could be better but on a NAS CPU it is still incredibly well done. Some tools are missing, like rotation, but in the development pipeline. Overall an excellent solution to skip Google and keep your images at home.

better than google drive or google photos. I wish I could make the app do an"upload limit" because when I try to upload an entire folder with many files in it, it crashes. Like if it could only upload 2 at a time (or a number that I can set) then that would be perfect.
