This official app is free. Gemini gives you direct access to Google’s best family of AI models on your phone so you can:
- Get help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and more
- Summarize and find quick info from Gmail or Google Drive
- Use text, voice, photos and your camera to get help in new ways
- Say “Hey Google” to ask Gemini for help with what’s on your phone screen
- Make plans with Google Maps and Google Flights
If you have access to Gemini Pro it will be right here in the Gemini app.
The Gemini app is now live in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and more languages. See the full list of supported languages and countries here:

If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet — including controlling media and routines. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

this would've been the best AI if a few minor mistakes were fixed. the program gets extremely laggy after a few messages in the same chat which is extremely frustrating when you're trying to get deep into a specific subject. the AI itself may give false information if you don't tell it to search for every word it'll say. and the most frustrating one of all is the inability to turn back to some long chats that contain really important topics, it just says "just a second" and never actually opens

It's interesting. This app, the more I use it, I hate it. And it's not necessarily the AI, which is terrible, by the way. But the app itself is god-awful. And each excessive update brings new features that make it even worse. Like now, I cannot use speech to text to input a prompt anymore without having to hear the AI continuously talking back to me. I pause it or stop the prompt. It stops but starts talking again when I tap mic for stt.

Was great a few months ago but it's absolutely terrible now. It's gone so far backwards from where it was. Its extremely frustrating now and I regularly install and uninstall again after seeing if it's improved, just gets worse. Interrupt doesn't work and gemini cuts out constantly while talking. Absolutely useless in June 2025! That's without even mentioning the errors, they're also constant, doesn't even know what year it is. I followed advice and burnt my carpet too! Free version now costs!
